Elven Nation Campaign, part III

The storyline is an active campaign and acts as a sort of sequel to the Elven Nation campaigns that I played in in '94/'95 and again briefly in the summer of '96.

The sages, wizards and priests of Evermeet conclude after much research that they believe the Drow to be beginning a massive endeavor, an assault upon the surface world, not a small undertaking considering that sunlight nullifies many of their magics and puts them at a servere disadvantage.

A key component to this effort is the nullifying the harmful effects of the sun. The Elves believe that the Drow are attempting to assemble as many artifacts/relics as they can to alter/combine them into some sort of "super-artifact" that will allow them to create a magical barrier between Faerun and the sun.

The Elves decide that they should attempt to locate as many artifacts/relics as they can before the Drow find them first.

The PCs (all Elves) explore a tomb in Yulash, under Lord Haverspell's manor, which the find riddled with traps and monsters, in order to find a trapped adventurer. After defeating a Bone Golem and a Mage's Magic Jar attack, they accidentally free an imprisoned True Vampire, the CG Swashbucker Jean-Paul Vermo (F16). He describes himself as a "True" Vampire, one that is not evil and that can walk out in the daylight unaffected. The party finds a Priestess trapped in suspended animation in the tomb an frees her, but she perishes in a subsequent attack by the tombs denizens.

The Priestess's dying wish is to be buries in Silverymoon, which the party agrees to carry out. She bequeaths an tavern in the city to them. Jean-Paul travels with them through Calimport on to Waterdeep and they part company (which the Undead Slayer in the party didn't mind a bit as his conscience no longer needed to sort out this moral dilema).

While in Waterdeep, the party fights with a Mage from Zhentil Keep and earns the attention of a wide-eyed young lad who wished to become the Elven Knight's page. The party was able to dissaude the youth and continued on to Silverymoon.

Duting this journey, it became readily apparent that winter was setting in very early, as snow was falling in early September already. The group pressed on and reached Silverymoon, finding themselves the only adventuring pary in the city. After delivering the remains of the Priestess to her family, the party visties the tavern they've inherited. A few days after there arrival, the Elven Knight, Keryth, realizes a To Whom It May Concern poster refers to distant relatives of his. The party takes up an expedition to clear of nearby keep which he claims as the only living relative.
