Patman's homage to the Norm

I began following the Norm shortly after Bill Watterson's Calvin & Hobbes retired. It was one of a few comic strips my newspaper tested soon after C & H's retirement.

And I loved it.

Set in a similar environment as Dilbert, but not as focused on the corporate world, Norm struck a chord with me, plucking many story ideas from the real world (the Internet, computers, immaturity in the face of adulthood, email, technology, friends, overtime, electronic gadgets, etc.). Norm is surrounded by an interested in supporting cast as well. Norm's friends Ford and Reine serve to ground him in reality when he starts to drift off into his own little DreamWorld.

Jantze also uses an interesting framing tool occasionally that I like. He will sometimes do the daily strip as a long One-frame. These are usually site gags or one-liners. Many of these are my favorite strips and I always look forward to them.
